BTBY Africa

Accessibility Statement

We want our website, programs, and digital resources to be welcoming and usable for as many people as possible.

Effective July 21, 2026

BTBY Africa is committed to providing an inclusive digital experience for people of different abilities, backgrounds, devices, and methods of accessing the internet.

We recognize that accessibility is not a one-time checkbox. It is an ongoing process of reviewing, improving, listening, and removing barriers wherever reasonably possible.

This statement describes our accessibility goals, the features we work to provide, known limitations, and how to contact us when assistance is needed.

Our Commitment

BTBY Africa believes that personal development, leadership, educational resources, events, and community opportunities should be accessible to as many people as possible.

We work to create digital experiences that can be used by people with visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, neurological, and other disabilities.

We also aim to support visitors who use mobile devices, slower internet connections, alternative input devices, screen readers, browser-zoom tools, captions, and other assistive technologies.

Accessibility Standard

Our goal is to improve the website in alignment with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, commonly known as WCAG, Version 2.2 Level AA, where reasonably practical.

These guidelines provide recognized recommendations for making digital content more perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust.

This statement describes an accessibility goal and an ongoing improvement process. It is not a claim that every page, document, embedded service, or feature has undergone a formal independent accessibility audit or presently satisfies every WCAG success criterion.

Accessibility Features

As the BTBY Africa website develops, we work to include accessibility-minded features and practices such as:

Clear Page Structure

Headings and content sections are organized to make pages easier to understand and navigate.

Keyboard Access

We aim for links, buttons, forms, and interactive elements to remain usable without a mouse.

Visible Focus

Keyboard users should be able to identify which interactive element currently has focus.

Readable Typography

We use legible fonts, practical spacing, and responsive text intended to remain readable on different screens.

Color Contrast

We aim to maintain sufficient contrast between text, controls, and their backgrounds.

Alternative Text

Meaningful images should include useful text descriptions where appropriate.

Responsive Layouts

Pages are designed to adapt across mobile phones, tablets, laptops, and desktop displays.

Scalable Content

Visitors should generally be able to enlarge text or zoom the page without losing essential information.

Descriptive Links

We work to make link labels understandable rather than relying only on vague phrases.

Reduced Motion Support

Where practical, website motion and animation should respect reduced-motion device preferences.

Forms and Registrations

BTBY Africa uses online forms for inquiries, memberships, registrations, and other services.

We aim for forms to include:

  • Clear instructions
  • Meaningful field labels
  • Logical keyboard order
  • Understandable validation messages
  • Clearly identified required fields
  • Accessible buttons and controls
  • Sufficient time to complete the form where possible

Some forms may be delivered through third-party platforms. If you cannot complete a form because of an accessibility barrier, contact us and we will work with you to identify another reasonable way to provide the needed information.

Video, Audio, and Multimedia

Our website may include videos, audio recordings, interviews, event highlights, presentations, or embedded multimedia.

Depending on the content and platform, accessibility features may include:

  • Closed captions
  • Automatically generated captions
  • Written summaries
  • Transcripts
  • Player controls that can be operated by keyboard
  • Controls for volume, playback, and full-screen viewing

Older recordings or third-party media may not yet include complete captions, transcripts, or audio descriptions. Visitors may contact us to request assistance accessing important information contained in a particular resource.

Documents and Downloads

The website may provide downloadable documents, worksheets, flyers, presentations, or PDF materials.

We aim to improve the accessibility of new documents by using practices such as:

  • Logical reading order
  • Descriptive headings
  • Readable text sizes
  • Meaningful alternative text
  • Sufficient color contrast
  • Descriptive document titles
  • Selectable text where possible

Some older, scanned, image-based, or third-party documents may not yet be fully accessible.

If you need information from a document in another format, please contact us and identify the document or page involved.

Third-Party Platforms

BTBY Africa uses third-party technologies to operate parts of the website and provide certain services.

These may include:

  • GoHighLevel website and form tools
  • YouTube or other video players
  • Social-media platforms
  • Payment processors
  • Event-registration systems
  • Maps and location services
  • Email and messaging services
  • External documents or downloadable resources

Although we aim to select useful and accessible services, BTBY Africa does not control every aspect of a third-party platform's design, code, content, or accessibility support.

We encourage visitors to notify us when a third-party service creates a barrier to accessing a BTBY Africa program or resource.

Known Limitations

Despite our efforts, portions of the website may not yet provide an equally accessible experience for every visitor.

Current or potential limitations may include:

  • Older images that may have incomplete alternative text
  • Previously created videos without complete captions or transcripts
  • Scanned or image-based PDF documents
  • Third-party forms, players, payment tools, or embedded content
  • Content supplied by speakers, partners, or outside organizations
  • Automatically generated captions that may contain errors
  • Features that behave differently across browsers, devices, or assistive technologies

We will continue addressing barriers as they are identified and as resources, technology, and platform capabilities allow.

Requesting Assistance

If you experience difficulty using the BTBY Africa website, accessing a document, completing a form, viewing a video, or obtaining information about one of our programs, please contact us.

To help us understand and address the barrier, please include as much of the following information as possible:

  • The page or resource you were trying to access
  • A description of the problem
  • The device and browser you were using
  • The assistive technology involved, where applicable
  • The format or assistance that would be useful
  • Your preferred way for us to respond

Please do not include passwords, full payment-card information, medical records, or other unnecessary sensitive information in an accessibility request.

Response and Follow-Up

We will review accessibility reports in good faith and aim to respond within a reasonable period.

The time needed to resolve an issue may depend on:

  • The nature and complexity of the barrier
  • Whether a third-party provider is involved
  • The availability of an alternate format
  • The age and format of the affected material
  • Technical or platform limitations

When an immediate technical correction is not reasonably available, we will try to identify an alternative method for providing the relevant information or service.

Continuous Improvement

Accessibility is considered as we build new pages, update content, add forms, publish documents, and introduce new digital services.

Our ongoing efforts may include:

  • Reviewing pages and content for accessibility barriers
  • Improving headings and semantic page structure
  • Adding or correcting image descriptions
  • Improving keyboard navigation and visible focus
  • Reviewing color contrast and text readability
  • Improving captions, transcripts, and multimedia access
  • Updating inaccessible documents where practical
  • Considering accessibility when selecting new tools
  • Responding to feedback from website visitors
